Roy has done very well in playing down any expectation on the team at all - quite the opposite has been true in World Cups of the recent past.

I don't think they'll win it, but they could well be this year's surprise package imho.

Especially through tactical and physical indiscipline. He seems to be basically the same player that burst onto the scene a decade ago, he's failed to learn anything or adapt his game and has consistently looked the poorer player against others in the united team. Ronaldo, Tevez and Van persie to name a few who he's struggled to gel with, I suspect largely because of jealousy and a lack of guile. He needs to be the big man or he takes his toys home.

Yes he's talented, probably the most talented english forward of the last 20 years but his frankly pisspoor record in every major finals for england bears this theory out.
