It's some kind of witty, postmodern badge of cool. :shrug:

Or it could be they're just a loathsome, self-absorbed, desperately attention-seeking, soulless excuse for a human being.

Monty's powers must be weak though. Having been wished cáncer by the 'cheeky little imp' in the past for no apparent reason, I'm lucky to have come through various cancer scares unscathed...

You can't get cancer from the internet.

Also, people have been rhetorically wishing death on each other for hundreds of years before the internet. See Shakespeare "A plague o' both your houses!" etc.

Jorge shows wit and originality in his posts. Certain others - like those wishing cancer on people - just scream 'look at me' in those kind of posts...

Maybe it's just me, but I really don't get the joke of wishing cancer in anyone.
