View Full Version : Did we play amazingly well yesterday, or were Newcastle very poor?

Or perhaps a combo? Maybe we made Newcastle look poor. Coz that was really shyte. Their defense looked headless. They have some skilled players, but there appeared to be no will to put up a good team performance, no strategy, no plan. I think it's a management thing.

Nothing like rolling over poor sides to make everyone feel that we're making progress. :-)

We have to win the FA Cup to do better than last year.

I was quite happy with our showing (other than not beating the worst Utd side since the invention of football in 1992)until the quite disgraceful capitulation in March.
To see so many players with long term injuries and not do anything to replace them in the transfer window is just not doing your job.

Just add this season to the 'getting quite long' list of missed opportunities that AW has presided over since the breakup of the Invincibles

and comparing 1 points total to another is meaningless due to the changes other teams have made

so we showed far more character than the current team... at the end of the day, getting mor epoints than last year but finishing the same plce isn't moving fwd's imho

One could argue that the league was stronger back in 98 than now. Once upon a time 40 points was not a guarantee to consider oneself safe. In recent seasons, 36 points has been enough for safety

and we were 4th on goal difference, we'd have done no better than the previous season when we were 16 points off the top spot.

doing as well as the previous season as we finished second

we got 78 points in 98 and 78 points in 99... which team did better?

It was that Man Utd didn't f**k up like they had the previous season.

but a lot of teams or equal quality... there are 4 or 5 teams towrds the top of equal quality and there are a few in the middle that are just floating around not bothering the top or the bottome, not sure if that makes it a stronger league than last year or not, it all depends on what measures you count strength
