high rise as time goes on. I was amazed by the amount of tall buildings outside of the centre whilst wandering round Shoreditch etc last year. Losing a lot of the 'rougher' neighbourhoods...not sure that is a good thing :shrug:

Dalston and Hackney are following quickly. The high rises are mostly between the city and Aldgate and, strangely enough, south of the water.

The high rise area in Dubai I found very sterile, cold and ...dark... A lot of them are aprtments and are not populated for large periods of the year. I've read somewhere that London is about to become "Dubai-On-Thames"?

...your suggestion though is correct. They are universally soulless, overpriced and when the London housing market inevitably crashes, there will be be more than white elephant polluting the skyline!
