I'm beside myself. Does anyone know if there's any town or village (with a half-decent hotel, obviously) within striking distance of the place that's fit for human habitation?

Did you actually finish the pig in cheese, by the way? And could you feel it weighing on your colon for days?

I'm in Derby tomorrow morning and from Stoke I have to go to Yorkshire. It's quite, quite dreadful.

Strangely things are far more expensive at Costcutter.

The pig in cheese came the night after a 7 course tasting menu of such richness as to make Croesus envious.

I started running again this morning. VERY gently. It's going to be a long process.

I'm actually struggling to pay more than £55 for a night anywhere.

Basically, nobody wants to be anywhere near Stoke when the sun goes down. :-(

Apparently the tear was small and has gone and mended itself. wd physio and his magic ultrasound machine. I have to 'gently' push through the discomfort and teach thon gnee to work proper again. I'm slightly dubious but willing to give it a a go. In fairness I walked about 300 miles around Verona this weekend and it was fine.

the cesspit you'll have to stay in, lock and barricade the door until sunrise.

Sausage and cheese is my preferred option.

Heart disease is rife in Stoke.

on Festival Park is not bad, and very central.

I know literally nothing of Verona beyond what's in Shakespeare. And he'd never been there.

Very pretty. A gazillion restaurants. Good enough.
