In fact, my point that the copa del rey is treated almost as if it's of an equivalent status to the league cup pretty much stands, and stands firm, no?

Imagine the uproar if the FA cup final was moved to a wednesday night in late march.

My point being that the Cup doesn't have to be treated with such kid gloves - it will still be a massively important competition even if it isn't played the last game of the season or at 3. We focus on the wrong things

In my mind that's the one singular, biggest detrimental factor to the FA Cup. Strangely though nobody ever seems to mention that.
