btw did you see the review of The Lullingstone Castle further down? :hehe: In the comments they mention The Star in St Mary Cray and some place that used to be opposite St Mary Cray Station as being comparably rough.

I did see it, yes. :hehe: I remember the one opposite the station - and there was another one in St Mary Cray which was on the terrifying side of rough, called The Black Boy. The picture on the sign was, you know, a black boy :-(

You do still see the odd Black Boy pub. With the signs. I suppose they're setting their feelings on the matter out clearly and unambiguously, at least. They're making it very clear that, if you're black, you probably shouldn't even think about walking in the door.
