architecturally. Hardly worth bothering with, really.

Ultimately you wont have enough time to do everything but I split my time there between galleries and old buildings.

Though for me Florence trumps it for sheer beauty per square foot

city for discount prices.

Be careful of the sneaky cafe/bar owners around the town. You might need to pee whilst you are walking around. They will quite happily sell you a coffee but when you ask for the toilet they will say they don't have one. When they clearly do.

Plus some have this weird thing where you have to pay more to sit down to drink your coffee.

And that is how they treat other Italians not just the tourists.

One other tip don't put your bag on the floor for a few seconds whilst visiting Piazza Venezia. Otherwise some cop will blow his whistle at you and start shouting. (dressed like the policeman in Allo Allo)

Surely there are Bornean apemen who could name five things they'd want to see in Rome?

I'm going to Verona over Easter. I've never been.

I bet it's ****.

I wonder if any modern cities will survive like this and be looked back upon by future humans.

'How did they build this empire state building?' What sort of primitive technology must they have used.

My GF was there for 2 weeks on a business trip. She recommended some restaurant up on the hills, I will have to get the name of it.

I've never been but I hear good things, lovely food apparently. Even by italian standards

break.

No break at all. They drink it at the counter and down it like a shot. 'Let's Go!'

I thought we could sit down for a few minutes at least.

I always feel slightly silly if I go to a coffee shop with someone and we order coffee because they'll order some vast latte or what have you and I'll have a double espresso, which I'll drink as soon as I've sat down, meaning I have to spend the next half hour watching them consume their pint of frothy nonsense.

Bit out of the way in a non-descript part of town so much less crowded.
The toppermost highlight of my 3 visits

Unless they've cleaned it up and repaired it in the 30 years since I was there.
