There was 24 of us.The bill came to ¤1100 and everyone threw their share.So I volunteered to go up and "negotiate" to try and save a few bob.A very very fine fellow settled for 800 and a promise we would be back.Returned to the tables and told everyone he was a **** and wouldn't move on the bill.

My one advice about entering a new relationship slightly later in life is that it is a great opportunity to set your stall out early.

For instance, I have been very insistent since day 1 that football comes first. My diary will revolve around Arsenal or me playing football first. Then we can make plans after that.

When it comes to tipping, I am quite lucky that she has the Spanish mentality around that. When the bill comes, she will be reaching for the odd pennies in her purse. Going to America where they are so helpful by showing you the exact amounts for and 18 or 20% tip so that is what you give was great fun for her.
