Shouldn't make a difference but if we've learnt anything over the years we're a confidence team. That said, I think we've done much better this season in coming back from the freak results.

I can't be arsed typing my logic but it's got more to do with the simple maths

We could finish with enough points to have won the title back in the day...shows how much others have improved and how massive that gap between 4th and the rest of the league is.

Last year I felt it was generally the weakest league we've had for done time...thus year is not much better....Villa are grade a relegation fodder but going to stay up again.

Playing against teams like that every week is no help when we jump into European competition.

All that said....I don't think we're too far behind Liverpool, Chelsea and City...we thrown away one points this season that were avoidable...taking 1 point from United was shocking as was the Stoke defeat...and we should've got the job done vs the likes of Southampton and Swansea...both 2-2 games.

We've shipped 6 in three games to our main title rivals this season.
Hardly the stuff of champions and yet we could still win the thing mathematically.
The flat track bully tag is still very much stuck to the soles of our shoes.
