but after over three weeks has been semingly completely unable to fix it and lies and fobs-off every phone call until one has lost one's mind, what does one do next?

Might get some useful information from the Owners club...
If there is one for your make and model of vehicle.

An owners club you say.

Are you suggesting there may be a Citroen C4 Mens club I can join.

works, and one that you have to pay £1000 for it to still not work, then a spot of deviancy might have its merits.

You want your car to work. They can make it work. What's that worth to you?

occasions it would fire up first time.

Took to Vauxhall and paid £1,200 for what they said the issue was (faulty fuel injectors). Got it back after a few days and it was the same, despite the fact they said it had been fully tested and signed off as good.

So Father phoned and went, for want of a better term, absolutely ape ****. Told them that they were to send someone to pick it up that day and that we wouldn't be paying for any further repairs required up to £1,200.

They did pick it up and provided a courtesy car. But they charged an extra £200 for clearing out carbon deposits that they said were caused by the faulty fuel injectors.

It was fine after that.

0844 369 0112. Tell them you're not getting an adequate response from the dealer and you need some help.

If they work the same as other manufacturers, they'll give you a case number and knock the living **** out of the dealer until he sorts something.

You have a separate push start button?

Otherwise if it's a key based ignition have a look at having the ignition switch - in the steering column - replaced.

Here's some info for ignition switch for a Vauxhall Corsa as an example..

at the pitot tube and displayed on the ASI (air speed indicator); in effect, it is the speed of the airflow over the aircraft, as opposed to ground speed which is, as you'd expect, the speed of the aircraft over the ground taking wind speed and direction into account.

That's a very quick summation.

Still didn't fix it so now it's probably the ECU (which my local garage suggested in the first place) - another £650 on top of the price of the original component that wasn't even the problem.

the final bill.

If they complain you can tell them that they can replace the new, irrelevant parts with the old wons they took off.
