and one of the french chaps had the nickname 'la baguette'.
As he was slightly diminutive and could stand on the benches around the edge to dry post shower, whilst us taller chaps just sat on them, it was very clear how he got his nickname when it was hanging, quite literally, an inch or two from the end of your nose if you turned around to talk to him. Not a mistake you made twice, I can tell you.
