KL distance was 2900 miles but the flight probably ended up doing atleast 1.5 times that if the crash version is to be believed.. who on earth signed off on that fuel loading.. Or was it because fuel is considerably cheaper in KL than in Beijing ? Why isnt the Malaysian government open about this data still ?

carry significantly more fuel than was necessary in case of emergency.

Also, if the engines were running at less power then that would use less fuel and it was also supposedly flying higher than usual which would again, use less fuel, as I understand.

It's just, you know, a normal fuel load on such a route.
