Trophies, silverware that's what I'm talking about - I think half the people on here should start supporting a bank or a supermarket - arsenal is a football club who's sole purpose is to be run in such a way that enables them to compete in a league with the goal of beating everybody else and achieving trophies, we have done that consistently prior to wenger and will do so again post wenger

arrived. No-one is going to win a league or champions league title without substantial spending, even if the manager's great.

If Wenger stays he has to be given the promised £100 million or so and he has to spend it and if having done so we get repetitions of the three beatings we've suffered this season it will be his last contract.

The question is where did we finish at the end of each season and what silverware did we win? The answer on average pre Wenger is mid table, certainly 12th place was not unheard of for us and trophy less. No one is ignoring the trophies won under Graham.

The way the media and some on here carry on you would think the last 8 years have been the worst in the Arsenal history and that is so far from the truth. The reality is that because of the great years under Wenger some people are unhappy because for them That's how it's always been and what they now expect for ever more. Others just don't like Wenger or The Arsenal so this is an opportunity to be negative.

So, include the trophy less years between 71-87 pre 71 people will be shocked to see how long we went without a trophy.

Also look at where we finished in the first division and the PL each season pre Wenger.

Oh and prior to 1998 we'd won the league and cup double once in 1971, compare that to the Wenger years,

You have to look at the last 8 years

In the context of The Arsenal history

In the context of league history, that means first division and PL and cup history

In the context of the Wenger years

It's only in the latter context that Wenger can be found wanting and even then you have to consider the other dynamics taking place in the PL specifically and football generally at that time. Even compared to all the clubs in the PL during his 18 years the record still stands.

Some people just don't know how luck they are that they support the Arsenal!
