I'd say we're still on target.

If we finish 3rd or 4th by the odd point that progress given we've not been as competitive int the PL for years.

That whilst The Arsenal have been playing two games a week for most of the season, having started the season earlier the suffered long term injuries to at least two of our key players at a crucial stage of the season, Liverpool in the main have played one game per week certainly in this crucial stage, and have had no major injuries to their squad, probably as a consequence.

But you wouldn't want to remember that, easier just to look on the Arsenal as failures. Simpler that way.

But surely that would defeat the whole object of what we want to do?

it is silly to demand trophies

cup competitions are fickle, and all you can really demand is not to be dumped out by a team a couple of divisions lower

this year we've knocked out spurs, pool and everton, so it would be unfair to judge us too harshly if we don't happen to win against someone like hull

the main thing I want from us is to compete in the league - again you can't demand to win it as luck will play a part, but you can demand that you put yourselves in a position to win it if things were to go your way

one heavy defeat against the other contenders is excusable - even losing to all the other contenders 1-0 probably is - but 3 humiliating results and a net goal difference -9 after 5 games is NOT competing

I'm simply stating the facts about the differences for Liverpool. Fit well rested players who are playing on average one competitive game per week, gives them an advantage.
