View Full Version : I might tend to be a tad cynical about those who work in marketing.

However, it struck me recently considering the purchase of a trench coat that there is really only one option if one is in the market for the classic gentleman's spring rain apparel, and that is Burberry.

Quite how Burberry have managed to regain ownership of their brand identity to this degree, given that 10 years ago the whole thing appeared dead in the water, is a mystery, but suggests some extremely clever work by chaps wearing red-framed spectacles.

wd marketing types.

Always had the slight disadvantage of sounding like a bodily secretion, though.

"If you must do that in the shower, George, you could at least make sure all the aquascutum's gone done the plughole rather than all over the tiles!"

Tomorrow I will visit Aquascutum and try the product, b.

The entire Burberry/chav parallel was obviously blown out of proportion by the media.

Anyone who, well, knew anything about fashion in general knew that Burberry wasn't about to be discarded like a less reputable high-street brand.

Turn my heating off? Are you quite sane? You get many chilly mornings in July and August.

You'll need silly facial hair and a penny farthing to carry it off.

There are those who wear a uniform because they have to and then there are those who do so to look 'cool'.

There's a name for the latter group, isn't there?

Sir Charlie of Nicholas

Anyway. You could say that anything you wear is to look 'cool', unless you favour slacks and polyester jumpers.

Slippery slope. That's all I'm saying.
