I've just bought my first place in Epsom. It's a fairly new built estate so lacks a leetle bit in the character.

But it's on the site of one of the old insane asylums. They've made it really very nice. Very green and leafy. Lots of parks, good pubs, nice walks etc and only 30 mins into Waterloo - although I believe there are faster ways if you go to a more mainstream station.

There's quite a lot of young ish professional couples with young kids living around me in my three bed semi.

Are house prices in Scandanavia not stupidly expensive like everything else?

Off to northern Norway tomorrow. Beer is so expensive because of the fun police :-|

quite high. Up in the north where i am you can get a house from anywhere between £55000-£300,000. £300,000 being a big f**k off one.

This one is just across from where i live now. Decent size and only £113,000.

I'm certainly not a crim, I'm just lucky that my parents have been so kind as to help me out in getting my foot on the property ladder without having to get a killer mortgage.

So whilst being a student, you had saved £87.5k to get you to your 30% deposit you have just used to buy your house. And that is, by your own admission, making only one financial sacrifice, which was to not buy a new car...

Come out of the station and you're into Wood Green High Road, as ordinary a stretch of shops as you will find anywhere in the UK.

Doctors in training are paid extra if they work more than 40 hours or they work outside the hours of 7am to 7pm, Monday to Friday. This is usually between 20% and 50% of the basic salary.
