for this flat in Turnpike Lane, before I checked out crime statistics for the area. At least 15 crimes committed EVERY MONTH on the road the flat is on (mainly antisocial behaviour) :yikes:

Called the local police just now and was told my a nice police woman:

"It's a lovely community in many ways but if I was a woman with a young child and I had to come home late at night from work to Turnpike Lane tube and then walk to XXX road alone, I wouldn't do it. And I say that as a police offer".

Apparently it's drug gangs mainly - there are 4 gangs that push all round that part of Turnpike lane and as fast as they give out ASBOs, new foot soldiers come up.

We have withdrawn our offer.

We only lived a mile or two away in our last london flat and overheard some cracking (geddit?!) gun battles.

We have a budget that should be able to find us somewhere to live in London that doesn't resemble an episode of The Wire each night.

it's just the market is so crazy at the moment it is almost impossible to position yourself as the preferred buyer.

I will concede that Dublin was a touch drastic in this respect.

I feel for everyone in London, I really do. Especially the (few) people actually from there that cant afford to live where they were born.

That said, I dont know a single person who has stayed there to raise their kids. Well, apart from one who lives between crystal palace and croydon, which I consider more purgatory than london.

I casually mentioned it to my girlfriend and she said he must be crazy.

I tell her you are my author acquaintance. and not Monty from the Arsenal forum.

You are better off getting better value for money outside of London imo and do the commute stuff.

Offices in Bradford thus why the Mrs lived in Bingley for a while.

I was quite the celebrity in the local pub, which means there was a few lads who I think would have liked to knock the ****e out of me.

a year maximum.

Could cary on renting, but problem is prices are increasing faster than we can save, so there's a risk of getting priced out of the market. This applies to areas outside London on the commuter belt, too.

Where we live now would be a fantastic place to bring up children - and in theory we can afford to buy there. Just not in this mental market.

It's been like that since 2002 :hehe:

A friend of mine changed the signs from 'Westfield' to 'Wastefield' and they didnt notice for almost two years.

I f**king hate shops, myself. One of the great pleasures of shopping in Bradford was that you could do it in relative solitude. I'm going to miss that.

The main chap assured us that "if one of my 'guests' ever gives you trouble, let me know and I'll cut 'em, yeah".

It was probably the safest house in tottenham
