View Full Version : I'm going to meet the man who built Jabba The Hutt next week.

Which has reminded me what has always bothered me about Jabba The Hutt.

Given that he is (let’s face it) a huge, slimy, slug-like creature, how was he able to rise to the head of a criminal empire?

I mean, he could use his brains and sociopathic tendencies later on, but at some stage surely he had to make his bones by being a trigger man, running protection rackets or whatever? Given which, I see his huge, slimy, slug-like nature being a significant obstacle. After all, if he’s asked to kill someone, they’d be able to escape simply by walking away at a normal pace. In fact, anyone even moderately agile would have been able to run around him and attack him from behind. Or you could take shelter in a small room – or a lift.

Even assuming he did succeed in his hit or whatever, how did he get away? He would be very slow and pretty easy to identify for witnesses.

Basically, I just don’t buy it.

I've seen the full-size diorama of Han saving Luke on Hoth by sheltering them both in the still-warm belly of the Tauntaun you have in your living room.

It's a very moving, almost homo-erotic piece imo.

Witness Haqn Solo walking around the back of him in the remastered version, and them hamfistedly making han step on his tail.

But, in the whole star wars wider universe the Hutts are actually a dynasty of criminals so t may be he didnt have to come up in the criminal world, it could be a bit more nepotistic, like Jacob Rhys-Mogg, just less odious.

Here's the original shoot

were all watching at his home one afternoon when he came home.

Awkward-ish moment. http://www.awimb.com/images/smiley_icons/ohwell.gif

And in the final version, he's a big slug and so, presumably, are all the other Hutts. This makes no sense.

All of the other Hutts are slugs, the truth is it's a bit of a mystery.

Unfortunately the amount of star wars info on the internet is rather sparse but everything you need to know to seem relatively knowledgeable on the subject can be found here: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Hutt

I had loads of little figures and everyfink.

However, I'm not one of these who thinks they're anything other than kids' films.

Though I thought two and three were massively underrated by the fanbois.

The cartoons are also rather good imo, kid defence again, honest.

To be fair, though, all the Bullochs were ginger and extremely pasty, so that could have put anyone off.

I may tell you about my friend (the top of whose head you can see in that still from Robin of Sherwood - he played Much the Miller's son) and Katie 'Oxo Mum' Bellingham. But it might put you off your lunch.

I'm not poncing it up and calling it anime or animation, it's a cartoon.

Easily as watchable as Ulysses 31 or Mysterious Cities of Gold

Bit sketchy on the odd name, face and species but I'm bang on when it comes to getting the right sex.

This was a friend, same house as "Marigold" funnily enough
