We got incredibly lucky with the weather the whole time.

Monday we visited Beatrix Potter's former home, then went on a relatively ambitious 6 mile walk around Tarn Howes. A bit too ambitious, in fact, as we got a leeeeetle bit lost and had to re-route :-(

Yesterday we went to the Blackwell Arts and Crafts centre in Windermere which is a beautiful house with a fascinating history, then we went on a big drive from Keswick to Buttermere, which took us over some dramatic passes (I think a similar route to one of the ones you suggested).

Today we went to Cartmel for their famous sticky toffee pud and a look around Yewtree Barn antique store which I would also highly recommend (we bought a beautiful brass clock for the living room).

A resounding success.
