ascendancy and who is choking. The 5-1 drubbing was the start of a very long and protracted choke. No title winning side has ever been so heavily defeated after the New Year...EVER*

The reality is that City and Liverpool have been getting better as the months have gone on, they've found a groove and been scoring goals for fun. City have their special player back for the cup final and likely for the rest of the season. They also have two games in hand now.

Whilst Chelsea have been grinding out wins or draws whilst boring the pants of everyone.

Liverpool also only have the PL to focus on now. Remember they've not won the league since a certain team beat them 2-0 at Anfied in 1989. So lots of incentive to stay focused.

Plus The goal difference of all of those teams is much better than ours even before today's game.

So even if we had bought in the January window and won today there is a lot going against us with 10 games to go.

The only thing that might work for us is that all three at times have looked shaky at the back and conceded goals that were not expected, but that's against the fact that in the main they (primarily City and Liverpool) score shed loads.
