Your fridge detects the fact that you are running out of milk so it automatically notifies Sainsburys, who deliver it to your door without you doing anything

Or your Brita jug automatically orders new water filters from the cheapest place :-)

That's why Google spent billions buying Nest Labs who invented smart smoke alarms and thermostats for homes (i.e. their patents)

or not without a very high premium on their delivery cost.

Honestly, if anyone mentions Moore's Law or Industry 2.0, I may spit.

Also, if they are delivering a big shop to your next door neighbour, it's cost effective for them to drop off one item at your house, otherwise Asda bid for the sale

has recognised is not on the turn, remember to turn off the recognition/automatic purchase function whenever I go away, and hope that one of my neighours happens to be getting a delivery from the same company on the precise day I need the milk.

Fewer freebies in the current gig, but the subject's more interesting.

for (you left it out for > 2 hours and the room temperature is 21c so it is probably off), knows the weight of the milk and can infer the volume remaining. It then sends you a message on your phone asking you if you want the Asda guy who is 10 mins away to leave milk out for you, or the Sainsburys guy who is passing after 17:00, or just warns you so you can just buy it yourself

Your fridge knows you are away because the door hasn't been opened for x hours and it has checked your calendar or your phone location to see that you are in Spain etc

Jeeeesus, I pity those of you who don't work in the technology sector. You're basically going to be completely useless to society

Oi Fridge! NO! f**k OFF!

I happen to like picking up the shopping list and having a little stroll up to the shops to get the milk.
