If I send somebody a bank transfer can they obtain my bank details from it?

I need to make a small payment but I am a bit suspicious of the company and don't want any hassles.

They'll get the account name, the sort code, account number and the amount. You can't do an awful lot with just that these days so i'd say you're safe. You could send it via credit card, then you are automatically insured if you are really unhappy about it.

I am hoping that they are planning to under promise Re: delivery dates and over deliver so that I get my new toy tomorrow.
