Ballack: "Özil hasn't been accepted by his team-mates"

Özil isn't going through a great patch right now at Arsenal. The missed penalty against Bayern has put the former Real Madrid player back under scrutiny. Michael Ballack, the former German captain, spoke to the Daily Star about his fellow countryman's situation.

"With his quality he should be untouchable and bring out so much in the team. But it looks like he has not the acceptance of the team." However, Özil started well enough: "When he came here there was so much expectation with the quality he has. The first games he looked good, played well and was comfortable, but now he looks a bit lost in this team," the former Chelsea player added.
Mesut Özil played the full 90 minutes against Bayern Munich and had one shot on goal. Of the 60 passes he made, he lost the ball on 10 of them, but he recovered possession on four occasions.

Ozil will be fine. At the moment, he is ****e and it is pointless denying it. The odd decent pass doesnt make up for constantly giving the ball away and contributing little else to the rest of our game.

This time next year he will be flying along.

Mesut, in fact, has been accepted and is fully a member of the squad, that's why he gets to take his *******ings as any other of our players does.

Ballack is saying that, because Özil is such a superstar, he shouldn't be treated that way, he should somehow be above it. However, there seem to be no "untouchables" at the Arsenal; MB paints this as a negative, when it's almost certainly a positive.
