View Full Version : So apart from their 2nd pen, poor old Webb didn't have a great afternoon.

Gerrard should have had three yellows, Podolski should have had a yellow, Cazorla should have had a penalty and Sterling should have been sent off for pushing the referee.

Were all these mentioned in the various news reports?

Not sure the Cazorla one was really worth mentioning he kick Skertl as much as the other way round so would't really expect a penalty for that

Come on, I mean, really?

We got away with the penalty and Gerrard likewise. I think Webb dealt with the Sterling incident well (it wasn't a push, more a caress) but could've booked him I suppose.

and get it wrong. Not from the angle that Skertl came in though

It wasn't a red card offence.

and I would say Sterling's touch lacked the requisite aggression to justify a red card (though he was arguably taking a bit of a risk).

With common sense. Probably the same for sterling shoving him in the chest. I say probably as i have yet to see any media outlet or pundit even mention the incident.

None of the other penalty claims are mentioned so i assume they didnt happen, which just leaves the suarez one.

I have watched it again and i am now ready to confirm that it definitely wasnt a penalty. I believe it was a 'coming together' and the ref gave the perfect respinse given his view.

So on balance, webb actually had an excellent game. Got all the big calls right.

If an Arsenal player were to be sent off for that I think everyone would be understandably angry. The most logical outcome was for him to have a chat and do as he did resulting in a booking for Sterling, but that didn't come. C'est la vie.
