staggeringly low threshold for when they feel it necessary to boo our team.

result and performance; lack of subs etc.
But we drew with Man U.

The boos seemed quite loud. Was there perhaps something going on we didn't see on the telly?

We were trying to pick our way through, moving the ball across the pitch, looking for the opening. Jack felt the frustration, he is after all 'one of us' so he promptly lost the ball trying something silly and the game was effectively over.

Well done home fans!

specifically a reaction to the last couple of minutes of injury time when we played a a few conservative backwards passes rather than driving forward (or hoofing the ball in the box) looking for a winner.

I think if we'd been pressuring them during these final moments, there would have been hardly any booing.

rather than lumping it forward to get a winner

It was still pretty dumb

the final straw was basically playing for the whistle in injury time as thought drawing at home to a weak Manu side was a great achievement. When what we were doing in fact was giving up the chance to go top and getting ourselves in a major scrape for 3rd. But the booing is uncalled for, as it always is. Our home fans (except myself) are ****.

supported the team from 2000 onwards watch games now. they expect to be entertained. of course not all supporters are like that and a lot are not idiots that boo their team when we drawn at home to united.

but sadly many ****s come to games these days.

represented "ambition".

Also, I don't think we were playing for the whistle. We were trying to work passing angles that would have allowed us to come forward again, but were being conservative about it because on several occasions in the second half we lost the ball in midfield allowing United to counter. If we were playing for a draw, we'd have started doing this with 10 minutes to go, not 2.

ambitious. This might well have been our last chance to go top this season and it was there for the taking. We now depend on both Chelsea and City dropping points and we have to go to Chelsea, Spurs and Everton.

likelihood of the lads on the pitch scoring receded. The much-maligned Bendtner has scored a few in recent months and Sanogo would have been an unknown quantity to them. 10 minutes of either or both was all it would have taken to show more desire.

Bendtner or young Yaya missing a winning chance late on would've witnessed far more dissent, I'd suggest.

vs west ham and west brom. their not perfect either mate as is nobody in this league. city draw at norwich.

also you say we have to go to chelsea, spurs and everton but city have to go to united, us, liverpool and everton
chelsea still have to go to anfield and play us, plus spurs and everton at home.

also we have strongest record vs team outside top seven
arsenal 47 from 54 points
chelsea 42 from 52
man city 36 from 51

so win as i said below all our 8 games vs teams outside top seven will be at least on 80 points and then all we need is 5 to eight points from those big four games.

so its all to play for mate and that why booing was uncalled for.

which reflects change in society generally. The desire for immediate success without earning it, jealousy and envy when looking at what your neighbour has. Couple that with constant ideas, theories and opinions floating around on football phone-ins, Twitter etc, which morons find it easy to piggy back onto, and you have the reason.

very nearly scoring, but for a wonderful save. Regardless of the points, the physchological damage to the team's already fragile mentality if we had lost the game might have led to defeats in later games which we may now win

lots of games coming up. We can't bank on just beating the smaller teams. At some point we're going to have to beat the big boys or not win a trophy.

getting uncomfortably thin. At the moment we could win the league or finish outside the top 4 which would be a major disaster. Especially this year.

Monty91
02-13-2014, 11:26 AM
That we have not managed to pull 10-15 points clear of them whilst also staying in touch with the top is surely indicative of their progress, rather than our failings?

If we're still worried about finishing out of the top 4, so should City and Chelsea

We are supposed to be a team with title ambitions and world class players so why the hell did we play so defensively at home against a team struggling to buy a win ? Even at the end when you would think they might want to give it one last lump into the box we are passing it between our centre halves 20 yards in our own half. I didn't boo but I can understand the frustration. The reality is that the PR says one thing but the stuff on the pitch another.

And what the hell is that bull about our players being nervous. It just goes to show that there is no real mental strength in that club. Mental strength is not about scoring in the last few minutes against teams like fulham, palace, stoke etc it is about facing your direct competitors and overpowering them. Something we fail to do year after year and this year is no exception.

for it and moan any time they don,t win. twitter, phone in, 24 hour sport chananels allow for the cretins to whine all day if their team does not win every game.

i saw the new type of gooner over 15 years ago. i went to a game vs newcastle at home and we were winning 3-0 in 1998 at home. we let one in and one fan behind me shouted the team a total disgrace. sadly more and more have been like.

another example was in 1998 when we were only 1-0 down at home to middlesbourgh, half the stadium had left even though their were four mintues left of injury time and missed aneaka scoring in the last seconds.

again most gooners are fine and if you watch arsenal fan tv real fans like rob and moh go home and away with a good perspective

but half fans turn up at the emirates expecting to be entertained and to eat their nice crisps and buy a hat from the shop. pisses me the right of. their cretins and too many get away with it.

nappoi 2-0
spurs 1-0
liverpool 2-0
dortmund away 1-0
spurs (again !) 2-0

so don,t buy the theory we don,t win big games. we been consistent and that what it take to win the league.

Turning a blind eye to the fact that we have been v close to winning a major trophy in that time. We operate differently to the other teams, to ensure stability in the future and that requires a lot of patience from fans.

beat City or Chelsea and even though Manu are not as good as Liverpool (maybe not as good as Spurs and Everton either) it's a good test of where we are mentally in the pecking order. We have to start believing in ourselves more and playing with that belief.
