Also, no Lebaneser has ever given me a good haircut with the exciting ear hair burning thing, so I'm all about the Turks right now.

The Lebanesers just do it best. And their wine is excellent.

"Turkish food. What you eat when you can't have Lebanese."

There's a chain of Greek restaurants called 'The Real Greek', have you seen them? I had a so-so meal in one last year but the bread! THE BREAD! Best flatbread ever. By a mile. Amazing stuff.

V went into another branch recently to check but the bread was completely different, nowhere near as good. It may be that I shall never taste that bread again :-(

I'm no expert, but I love these, especially the Musar.

Chateau Musar is the best-known.

and you can't leave your hotel because Israeli fighter jets are buzzing the swimming pool area anyway, breaking the sound barrier on their way to ruin some poor unfortunate's day over the hills there, is it.

But the variation in quality is ridicules. Why should this be?

At Close Quarters (1987),

A diplomat and an Israeli master sniper plan to walk by night into the Beqa'a valley in east Lebanon, home of Palestinian revolutionary groups, in search of one man. They are far into the Beqa'a, out of reach, when their cover is blown and Syrian Intelligence alerted to their approach.

It was ace. This makes me wonder why I never read any more Gerald Seymour. Harry's Game must have been good, surely?

This Greek stuff, I would guess, was oilier than the usual.

And surely even an Israelite wouldn't be so gauche as to bomb a vineyard? :-(

Sir Charlie of Nicholas

Now that would be galling.
