View Full Version : I'm a bit pissed off about all this charitable 'helping the flood victims' thing.

I could have bought a bigger house down on the flood plain, but I didn't, because it's on a f**king flood plain. Instead I bought a smaller house on a hill. No f**ker offers to help me out financially when the wind blows off my roof tiles, do they?

Luckily Dave sprang into action and commenced pointing at things all over the tory heartlands.

Seriously, why is the Prince of Wales having to phone the Prime Minister to get him to visit some badly affected areas? Surely his office should be advising that?

on a flood plain?
I'd say they need to take responsibility.

Maybe we should have an actual constitution, rather than a collection of barely applicable fudges from the seventeenth century, to tighten these things up a bit.
That said, he basically owns swathes of somerset (as well as wales, devon, cornwall and herts) so I guess he was protecting his business interests.

May I remind you of Live Aid or indeed the black babies?
Northerners are different. One would imagine that in the event of a storm or flood they would simply roll up their sleeves and get on with it, dole to be collected etc.

Large areas of Limerick and the south f**ked from adverse weather.
I don't see any problem in helping your own. I suspect you wouldn't if it wasn't the home counties.

wish to see 100% of GDP spent on foreign aid? They never explain the exact percentage point at which moral comfort lies.

foreign aid is an incredibly useful diplomatic tool, even if we do do it in a more ethical and fair fashion than most other countries.
also, it's kind of karmically necessary for a former colonial ruler to do this, in my mind anyway.
A better idea might be to cancel some of the stuff, like defence spending for instance, that's there to do the exact opposite of helping people.
*"c**ties" was actually a typo, however apt
