View Full Version : Company carWIMB.......is there any point? New job offers company car or allowance
from my basic mathematics a car allowance seems far the better option

it'll cost you f**k all. An M5 will be a kick in the nadgers though.
or £5k allowance
Think the 40% tax bracket makes the company car pretty much a no go
So bloody complicated

I'm slightly conflicted, actually. I might move up a size to an M5, or even, just possibly, to a Bentley. Just possibly.

It might be terrifically reasonable.

Mind you, as you are well aware, I know sweet f**k all about cars. But I don't see that as any reason why you shouldn't heed my advice.

The one thing putting me off the Bentley is the expected depreciation in the first 36 months. £60k. Now I'm not a chap to choose a car based on vulgar financial considerations, as you know. But £20k a year? :gulp:

I like them, very much, and I'm old now, so old. I need an old man's car.

I have no wish to drive a half-functional re-badged poorly engineered Ford. Eew.

plump for the M3 anyway. It's a dance as old as time.

It's depressing, isn't it?

MOT, maintenance, tyres, insurance etc. Need to allow for that in your calculations imo. It is worry free motoring with a company car.
