Wenger says we are short now in the mf, then why do we have all these guys signed as mf players? At the last count, only 4 of these are injured, + 3 game ban for Flamini. So he's saying nearly half of the contracted players here aren't good enough? But we can sign a fella who sits on the bench at Spartak, why not try and buy the fella who he would naturally deputise for there?

I know this might be a plasticy comment, but I am a little confused here.

Well, we play 4-3-3, don't we? Have you looked at the run of game we have coming up?

The mid 3 are any from Arteta (old and can't play every game), Flamini (missing 4 games), Wilshere (injury prone with bad ankle it seems), Ramsey (out 4-6 weeks), Diaby (fit and ready to play), the others are too young.

Although Oxlade is coming back, it makes sense to bring in 'another body' for the short term as Arsene said. Kallstrom is experienced at least.

The front 3 includes Giroud, plus 2 others out wide: Feo (out), which really just leaves Ozil, Cazorla, Gnabry (good indeed but inexperienced for the big games coming up),

The elephant in the room is the alternate striker, if Giroud misses a few games in a row, with no natural replacement. Podolski doesn't seem at ease in the lone front role, not his best position to be fair.
