And the timing thing - I guess with no transfer windows, clubs might abuse this aspect of it even more i.e. you could sell a top player to a club your rival has to face right in the final run-in as opposed to when clubs have roughly the same number of games to play.

One thing re xfer windows for me is they definitely need to closed before the season kicks off. I know different leagues start within a week or two of each other, so shouldn't really be that difficult to do.

I think he said it was surprising that Chelsea should sell a player to United which was again a view spouted by all and sundry before it became apparent that the deal was going through
