View Full Version : Would a £5k payrise be enough to tempt you to lose 7 days holiday?

6 weeks down to 23 days :yikes: Not sure I could do it

That said, if it's teaching you're on about then they work a lot of their holidays anyway so that might be essentially nothing.

1 week of holiday is worth a lot less than £5k so the logical answer is to take the pay rise. But I understand your hesitation.

I'm not sure I can face losing 7 days holiday for a £5k payrise

or revenue share..or negotiate a rev / comm deal at current place..then think of some amazing new money making scheme for them, watch the money roll in..I get 25 days and even buy more sometimes!

It's inhumane not to allow people proper holidays.

I've known teachers who worked incredibly hard. Just because your sister was **** you don't have to insult others.

is the £5k a per one off payment, or payrise?

Someone is going to refer to a 'sense of entitlement' in a moment :-)

Sir Charlie of Nicholas
01-22-2014, 03:21 PM
It's called 'internetting'. You can send and receive messages in minutes! Also you can use an electronic far-speaking apparatus.

My staff love it when I call them from south-east Asia at 1 a.m. because I've had a great idea. Love it.

mates unimaginative social odd ball with no leisure activities or proper interests as well ..i could easily use 25 days just on half days..long weekends and day trips let alone actual holidays

Sir Charlie of Nicholas

'Holidays' is one thing and 'work' quite another.

Peter
01-22-2014, 03:29 PM
If i take time off i am going to end up decorating. It is inevitable. New house, skint etc.....

I would rather be at work.

Reykjavik was good fun but the hotel wasnt hugely impressive. Breakfast was a little ordinary.

The intercontinental.

We do use the E&O, sister hotel of raffles, in penang though. Very nice indeed :-)

Eating downstairs with the plebs. One could easily encounter an australian.

The E&O is nice, although a little corny. And assuming you stay in the heritage wing (how vulgar to choose the new and characterless victory annexe) there is no executive lounge.

Though one can of course relax in farquhar's bar of an evening :-)

I do like penang.

I'm there for the wildlife, really.

I'm ticking off the Great Hotels of the East.

We stay regularly at the Oriental BKK and Raffles SIN, occasionally at the E&O and Raffles Siem Reap and Phnom Penh. I've never done the Mandarin HK, and look forward to it very much.

What about KL? I've never stayed in an old colonial hotel in KL.

I have also stayed at the ghastly Hilton, the poxy sheraton and the incredibly irritating grand hyatt. Never again.

If i want colonial charm in KL i go for an evening at the selangor club.

I do enjoy the singapore cricket club as well. Fun for an evening.

Raffles seems a bit....errr, fake. A fascinating place but it is all a bit las vegas.

Of ocurse it's fake. They're giving you 1932. I'm generally a rubber planter, in from my estates for the weekend to buy up some supplies and enjoy a few stengahs in the Long Bar.
