Do people even say y**n anymore? I've not heard it since I was a kid.

Then again, I did grow up round N16

So not as offensive as calling someone a fullblown yíd, but offensive nonetheless.

saying so just shows you are basically at the level of the Daily Mail in terms of intelligent debate and best ignored tbh

and 'bumface' isn't (even though both may be considered threatening, abusive or insulting).

I know what you mean but that's London for you, you're never more than a cliche's length from some rats.

Mind you, the other end of Fonthill Road, heading up to Hornsey and Crouch Hill is huuuugely more upmarket (expensive, basically) than it used to be. As I say, it had staunchly maintained it's 'stabby' nature though.

I think we talked before how that whole area where you lived, what is now Andover and Six Acres, used to be an area of notable ill repute called The Bunk. One of the great things about London is that it can be fantastically hard to clean the metaphorical dirt from some places, that being one.

I remember father Christmas coming to the hall one year.

I was only there for Nursery though.

Interestingly, the other street in the area that was coloured black on the Charles Booth Poverty Map was Queensland Road. Now close to full regeneration of course.

The Islington Workhouse School used to be on the Andover site. My great grandfather ended up there aged about 11.
