It does seem a bit safer than when I lived on there though, by the old Rainbow, 20 years ago, when the shop next door had a bloke on the door with a huge stick permanently in the doorway and gangs roamed and fought outside day and night.

One of my neighbours was the son of a Yardie gangster, the other an Irish drunk who beat his woman. One night the Irisher's mates smashed the front door and on into his flat to nick his tv in lieu of monies he owed them. The Yardie bloke robbed me a couple of times (borrowed my car and it came back with good parts swapped out for bad).

When we moved out and somehow got a flat in the beautiful Thornhill Crescent in Barnsbury it was like we'd died and gone to heaven. :cloud9: Now that's proper gentrification.

Suffice to say she'd evinced absolutely no hint of religiosity on the night I was with her.
