Years and my now lack of interest has came at a time when the players have seemingly lost interest as well. Rip it apart and start again IMO.

Broady's back for the next ODI, isn't he?

It's worse than rugby where they keep banging on about "my cat"

Sky News sports announcer had basically conceded defeat. Looked like bit of a dick 15 mins later :-)

It's not as if anyone is seriously considering not catching it if it's there to be caught, after all.

To be honest, it's usually shouted by wicketkeepers, who are all freaks and sexual deviants.

It seems like a very segregated sport up here, which is a shame as I think it's wildly more popular around these parts than it is almost everywhere else.

Ho hum, I guess, just like society

do often tend to segregate themselves - although simple demographics are often to blame. After all, you'd struggle to find a white cricketer in certain parts of Bradford.

The other problem, of course, is the social aspect. After all, in a sport that is to some extent predicated on meeting (and drinking) in pubs, bars and clubhouses, it can be difficult to assimilate people who not only don't drink, but often won't even be near alcohol.

Mind you, Saltaire is gorgeous, it's a UNESCO world heritage site and the pitch is in a gorgeous mature victorian park by the river Aire.

The pavilion itself is listed ffs

As you say; pointless.

The Bournville of the North :hehe:

Was the pavilion part of the original development?

I think the other one is probably older.

You were literally a mile and a half from my home, ash. You were elbow deep in Jorge Country.

Lucky you

all lovely blokes, but the lack of pre/post match beers once I got to about 18/19 meant I didn't stay at the club.

The one thing that sticks in my memory is that we shared a pitch with another all Asian side and would make sure our last Sunday match of the season was against them. The food at tea and the BBQ afterwards was always amazing, and they didn't object to the 2 or 3 of us that drank bringing along some beers.

Played a lot of cricket for Wickford a few (well quite a few years ago)

Saturday side was Noak Hill in what was the Morrant (not sure of the spelling) League at the time. Wickford were in the better Essex league weren't they?
