I thought he made the right decision - how can a player who ducks in order to let the goal go past him, not interfere with play?

Personally I think it could go either way - some of the comments I have seen from usually sane sources have suggested it is proof that refs take bribes. Fact is, he was standing in the wrong place even though he didn't duck he moved to the side it is quite reasonable to deem him a distraction. Alternatively as some have said there was no way Hart could save it who was he really distracting  People should just get on with it. Newcastle had other chances to equalise but should have been down to about 9 men Whining counts

where one spudser in an offside position jumped over to ball as not to get hit and the shot went in. If you're inside the box I say you interfere with play even if you don't touch the ball.

said to be interfering surely - though as I have said I would have no problem with the goal being given. The fuss was ridiculous - I'd be more concerned that Newcastle thought a decision going against them made it all right to kick anything that moved in the second half

But he was no obstacle for Hart.

It could have gone either way, hard to call with the speed of the game and so much going on, but the law dictates the goal was fine.

I did see it described somewhere in such terms but there was more of the oh City have bribed the refs type comments that you could shake a stick at - should you be the stick shaking type

these situations in an instant.

They want to put 200 cameras in a ground to cover every concievable angle of what goes on, and then we all get pissed off and judgemental because a ref has to make a decison in a split second and sometimes gets a few wrong.

Use the f**king cameras :shout:

is a huge grey area. It is not just about whether a player is in the sightline of the goalkeeper.

unreasonable decision that Gouffran was interfering? How would the situation have been resolved?

let him know what they'll think of him if he decided against their team may well ultimately reduce the chances of him making an honest , objective judgement. At least when they have to give split-second decisions they do not have to face this level of direct pressure.

and no controversial decision can be shown to the crowd. They will have made up their minds regardless and the fact that the ref will have seen it on TV will hardly change that

and anyone who did describe it in this way would be over-reacting, as would anyone who significantly exaggerated the number of people making such a claim.

On the other charge, it is a matter of historical record that refs have taken bribes at various points in space-time, but I would say that to suggest that it, or any other motivation for bias, is happening in any particular game is more likely to depend on a consistent weighting of decisions in favour of one side. In this match he should have sent a Barcode off, which suggests that he wasn't desperate for a Man City win.

However, if it turns out that Pellegrini has paid for a holiday for that ref and his family I think we might be reasonably permitted to raise an eyebrow. Even if someone in his family had been ill.

Can't see a group of officials in a box would be under any more pressure than the ref on the pitch.
Just saying that at some stage the use of cameras can only be of assistance in many, if not all situations.

Man City, but apart from Rogers' expensive comments, there was a smaller reaction than to this one decision, I seem to recall.

Man City have definitely had the rub of the green overall with recent decisions imo. Apparently these things even themselves out, so I look forward to them getting a big box of bad decisions during the rest of the season. :-)
