We had a discussion yesterday about whether or not Mon' deserved a booking. It clearly was an accident, bordering on not even being a foul. So why is that a booking? He wasn't last man, in that case it would have been red.

A player is always "away" when you foul him, he was not away on his way to goal coz we had our central defender covering him. So I wonder what the ref replied when Monreal asked him why this was a yellow?

no he isn't clear on goal so it is a yellow not a red :shrug:

He should not have been clumsy in other words. That rule is a bit like the handball rule imo. It clearly says that intent has to be involved, yet they give penalties if the ball is rocketed up in the poor defenders arm.
