You know, the wons where the fat oozes from the sausages and the thin patina of grease shines off the bacon and forms little pools of the stuff atop the bean juice.

If that didnt make you chunder, it was cooked by a poor person and the man next to you is reading the Daily Star whilst planning to do some manual labour to supplement his benefits.

Not that there's anything wrong with a decent hangover, of course. It's a great reason to enjoy Jorge's fry-up, for a start.

His two sons helped him to bed and then (presumably because he was hungover) he banished the sons who helped him on the grounds that they had gazed upon his nakedness. Always struck me as bloody unreasonable, that. Still, we can all be a bit irascible when we're feeling ropey, I suppose.

We've all been out on the lash, got a bit pished and said things we perhaps dont mean but, given that the whole middle-east unpleasantness is essentially based on this, that's a fantastic trail of damage from the lad :noah: .

I reckon he mustve got on the Jack Daniels early

the Bible and its teachings. Our society, government, law and literature are steeped in it and, without an understanding of the Bible, one cannot really understand our society.

Call me won of those multiculturalist types but I sort of believe you need a passing acquaintance with all of the great religious texts to be a proper, rounded individual.

This is just about the best way to read the OT imo. http://www.amazon.com/The-Book-Genesis-Illustrated-Crumb/dp/ 0393061027 (http://www.amazon.com/The-Book-Genesis-Illustrated-Crumb/dp/0393061027)

It does suggest that Noah was extraordinarily poorly hung, doesn't it?

For large parts, it's just a chronicle of genocide, rape and murder with no discernible underlying message.

Take David, for instance. The man is represented as a liar, a thief, a regicide, an adulterer, a mass murderer and a psychopath. And yet he is somehow 'beloved of the Lord'. Try picking a moral out of that.

I like to have won to hand in case any proselytisers pop round for a quick chat about how god is love.

And if they crack out the old 'the bible is the word of god' stuff I like to make sure they know all about the Vulgate.

It's genuinely fascinating just how amoral and wholly uninterested in religion massive bits of the Old Testament are. There really is rather a lot of Jahweh-approved ethnic cleansing, as well.

You can't help but feel that God must have undergone a massive personality change between the Old and New Testaments. You're also forced to believe that the God the Jews believe in is a capricious and vindictive psychopath.

At least, I think it was Woman's Own.
