I'm surprised by how many more white people they kill than black wons

I suspect the root of the beef might actually have been about them cutting their jobs a fair bit. Dont worry though, Boris is getting them a water cannon so they've cheered up a bit now.

It is the business of the police to protect us from such people. I don't particularly care how they do it. Anyway, Duggan's sort know the rules and can't complain if they end up on the wrong end of a bullet. Live by the sword, etc.

Also, if police are shooting people dead at point blank range when they arent even armed - dont forget the magic gun somehow teleported 20 yards away - the I'd suggest the people we need protecting from arent 'people like duggan' they are the met.

I can't remember many riots or mention of race when that white lawyer was shot dead in Chelsea

Brentwood

was that he probably threw it out of the window, and as it rolled down an embankment it ended up 20 yards away

Rich

has proved that.

I am personally glad that they shot him because he was clearly a grave danger to the public.

Classic Jorge

I'm not sure how it could have gotten 20 yards away, and through windows which weren't open, without anybody seeing it actually be thrown.

killing if he wasn't holding the gun when shot?

So presumably police officers in potentially life-threatening situations should always wait until they see an actual gun definitely pointing at them (being fired, ideally) by a known criminal whom they know to have acquired a firearm illegally (a fact that is beyond dispute)with the presumable intention to use it at some point before dispatching him?

You ask a lot, I think.

Can someone be shot on the basis that someone else, and lets not forget the source of the information here, has said they have a gun? Doesnt that feel a little bit flimsy at best?

Extrapolate that a bit, apply it to some other possible situations, and I think you'll see that if it is legal then perhaps it shouldn't be. The thing for me is that they didnt see him dispose of the gun even though there were two cars right by him, it doesnt stack up.

Still, it does keep the police's unblemished record - through 333 deaths in custody and 33 deaths from armed police - of not one single conviction.

Well done Sting and the boys.

hand, yes. Of course they do. Otherwise they'd have to wait until he'd actually used the gun before apprehending him for its possession. Given the intelligence they had, they had to deploy armed police officers and those officers were well within their rights not to take any chances.

It's a ridiculous term to use and one you should be ashamed of.

A 'trigger happy' policeman would spend the day cruising around N17 with his window down releasing rounds into the air with complete abandon, wild west style.

As I say, the issue wasnt sufficiently scrutinised if you ask me. I dont think the judge set out the correct terms of reference for the inquest. Maybe he came under some external pressure not to, maybe he felt like a lot of you guys, I dont know.

Vinny Jones character in Snatch was shot 6 times and survived. On this basis the copper did the proper thing, like a striker who follows up and kicks the ball over the line from one yard when it is clearly going over anyway.

The fact remains that the police lied, they lied to the media and the IPCC.

The independent police complaints commission – briefed by the police – told the media that Duggan had fired at police officers. He hadn't.

The officer told the inquest that he fired because he could see a gun in Duggan's hand. The jury says there wasn't one.
