View Full Version : I'm sure Man Utd have their fair share of cretinous fans, but there's no doubt they also have what

we don't which is a large contingent of hardcore fans who regularly display levels of loyalty and humour that put us to shame.

Tonight they sung ""Every single one of us will stand by David Moyes".

Can you imagine us doing the same for Wenger?

The meme that they are all 'plastic' is pretty much a myth, I go there a good few times a season and whilst the atmosphere has been a bit more febrile than usual they do have more of a sense of humour about things.

Then again, northerners are far funnier.

You seem to have ignored the hardcore of Arsenal fans that have remained loyal to Arsene over eight difficult years while praising the Lesser Manchester fans who have held it together for an entire four months.

Our fans are funny in an entirely different way, and one which is pretty impossible to enjoy if you support the club.

For instance, feel the wrath of the Emirates tifosi.

The point is that one lot behave like real fans - singing and supporting the team and that - and the others behave a little bit pathetically.

I hypothesised it might be a north/south thing but I think it's probably more to do with prices and the punters they get you. For what it's worth I rather like the away fans and if more of our fans were more like them it would be much better.

You know how I feel about sralxfrgsn, well he went up a bit in my estimation when he pointedly stood up and gestured for the fans to stop singing that.

We are the greatest team in the history of the world.

We are the richest team in the history of the world.

In the 70's we were the hardest firm in the world.

We also had the greatest tragedy to ever hit any club in the whole world.

We have now retired the greatest manager in the world.

Along the way we have had the greatest striker, the greatest goalkeeper, the greatest creative midfielder, the greatest dead ball striker, the greatest leader, etc.

So now you want to add that they are the funniest in the world.

I've been to pretty much every premier league ground, barring Norwich I think, so I'm pretty sure I've got a fair sample size.

I much get much more enjoyment from watching us play the big northern clubs, the smaller northern clubs I'm pretty split about though. I love places like Burnley, Sheffield Utd and Blackburn, that's real old football. That said, Bolton, City, Boro etc are awful.

Maybe there's a fair amount of enemy territory stuff in the background but I dont enjoy going to any London club, bar possibly Fulham, at all.

the more hilarious chants seem to come from the northern haunts. Although I have to give a tip o' me cap to Pompey and Soton.

London is a big city. Things are much too serious there with everything. Heck, they really obsess over FOOD! Give me a nice medium rare burger and a heap of freedom fries and I'm good most anywhere.

I cant agree about So'ton and Pompey though, especially Pompey which is basically like the Mos Eisley cantina from Star Wars.

A truly horrific place. That's even before you count that sexual deviant looking bloke with the bell, who is probably their local magistrate and a respected burgher of the community,

just there you sounded like a big city snob, dissing the Pompey bell ringer.

Two-Face is what you are. In fact, you are starting to look a bit like Tommy Lee Jones.

The cvnt with the bell, fact.

The earliest bellringer at football I can remember was at Maine Road, everytime City won throw in or a corner she'd start to ring the fecker.

You'll like this one, in the late 70's & 80's Newcastle used to have a bloke who'd do a Indian warcry at random points in the game- http://youtu.be/b4tUVOqLJ0w
