View Full Version : What actually is a key pass? Does one that created a good chance which is missed count? Or one

that occurs before an assist if it's particularly tasty? (eg a through ball that a winger squares for a tap in?)

What if it was a great through ball for the winger to square, but the shot was missed or saved?

Cos that Draxler kid for ¤45m has 4 assists and ten key passes in the Bundesleague.

But Serge vs the scum got an assist, he also played one for Ozzy which was tipped round the post, and the one which Feo hit just wide when he could have played in Flamster.

He also had a couple of others, as some website claims he had more key passes than the rest of the team put together.

He was also great vs Swansea.

So he must have almost of many of these key pass things in his two starts as the other kraut kid has all season.

How does it work?

Gets confusing because sometimes they lump key passes and assists together as below. (Orbinho works for Opta)

@Orbinho @OptaJoe You don't by any chance have Fabregas Key Pass totals for 04/05 to 08/09 seasons do you? Thanks.

@SimplyArseNuts 04/05 31, 05/06 32, 06/07 116, 07/08 112, 08/09 71 - all figures including assists

play a gorgeous reverse pass through the defensive line on the edge of the box, your winger reacts and has all the time in the world to roll it across the face of the goal for the CF to tap it in, then that's not a key pass, even though that was the magic pass that led to the goal?
