And Sagna is still easily good enough a RB to win the PL or CL. He knows the team and system, can play at CH, is great going forward - his crosses make goals and his overlaps create space - is as hard as nails defensively, even gets forward to head the ball (cf Scum, Cardiff), and is Arsenal through and through.
Last summer, I said I'd judge AW on whether he started the season with Tommy in MF.
Loadsa of people wanted AW out, spendsamfackinmoney etc.
I'm not an AKB ostrich. But I decided that his stubborness would be shown by whether he started the season with Tommy, cos during the 2013 run in, he was great.
If AW accepted this he had my vote. If he did what he'd done the season before, he wouldn't.
Cos in 2012, he came back for the run and was great. Yet AW didn't start him at the start of next season and we were ****.
In 2013 we've more points than anyone else and that's cos Tommy's played (or been on the bench a bit recently cos of Rambo and Ozzy).
If Giggs can play to 40, TR7 can play to 36 or 37 and that's 3 or 4 more years.
Give him a deal.
Cos if we let him go, it would take at least £20m to fill that hole in the squad.
Yes, you could spend £25-30m on a youngster who could get even better and would have resale value.
But it would be stupid to let Tommy go and spend £20m on someone to replace his role in the squad.
