we get too bogged down with Cook, Carberry and Root (Trott is guilty too) going nowhere at the moment. Which in turn puts pressure on Pietersen and Bell to bat at too high a tempo early in their innings.

Root actually looks like he could be a decent spinner if he bowled a bit more, which would enable the addition of another quick or even a second spinner.
