Of course it does the whole high-tension suspense drama well, and is compelling and addictive, but it many ways it is a load of nonsense. Plot holes the size of Mars, one-dimensional characters, awful dialogue, dreadful Slavic accents, and utterly implausible 'twists'.
The CTU are a incompetent, traitor-ridden shower of shyte. The villains seemed far smarter overall, and the big betrayal at the end was a joke. It's as if Samwise Gangee suddenly announced near the end that he'd been working for Sauron all along MWUHAHAHA!! Mind you, in retrospect it was quite good that wifey was killed. She was really, really annoying.
Still, I look forward to watching the second series. :- I have to really. The box set was a present from last Christmas and I thought I should at least watch the first series by now so I can be seen to have made the effort and have appreciated the kindness of the very generous and thoughtful benefactor.
