Heroin may be a different matter - perhaps there is some physical addiction which doesn't exist in other narcotics.

Anyone who tells you they are addicted to marijuana, cigarettes, cocaine or coffee means that they like them and find it hard not to have them.

That's not addiction, that's a matter of willpower.

Speaking as somebody who is rubbish at giving up stuff, but just that, and having known people who've got serious addiction problems I'd have to say it's very real.

It's a personality disorder in my book, and that's before we look at the physically addictive qualities of some pretty vanilla substances.

Anyway, the long and short of it is that pretending there isnt a problem by refusing to believe it exists is hardly a pragmatic and effective way to get it sorted.
