This will manifest with booing at the final whistle and then general pessimism during the week on radio phone-ins and the internet about our chances of maintaining a title challenge. This will then permeate through to the players and erode much of the confidence that has been generated so far this season.

Many are apparently of the impression that "Most Arsenal fans" booed the team and called for the manager's head after the Villa game. I have read this repeatedly in newspaper comments. This impression may have been reinforced by claims made on MOTD about booing which was in fact aimed at the ref as he went down the tunnel.

Nevertheless, people who exagerate fans' negativity wilfully damage our club by discouraging players from joining and lowering player morale.

'A light sprinkling of boos' might be another quantative description, which would perhaps not be unrealistic, but should hopefully not be too problematic for our wallflowers on the pitch, should that scenario occur.

Yes, some people are dribbling idiots. Some of these set of people are football fans. Some of these subset of fans support Arsenal. Some of this sub-sub-set attend matches and boo defeats. Let's not give them the oxygen of publicity.
