that you like to exercise regularly on here? So someone made a bad-taste joke about the Scotchers. And that's really, really bad, m'kay? Someone else made a non-reverential joke about Mandela and got arrested for it. And you are siding with the Police here? Really?

That's the thing with these newspapers' blog sections, they are basically the provisional wings of the papers in question.

So when you said "how can you write so much ****e about feck all" what you actually meant was "I may disagree with the man on other issues, but on this point he is spot on".

I shall bear this in mind next time I read one of your posts.

Fair point to indicate the inaccuracy of the original story, but it changes nothing regarding the illiberal arrest and detention. After all, let's not let the actual principles at stake get in the way here.

So let's try again. Is it right to be arrested for saying that you wouldn't like your kids to visit a mosque? Even if it is a crap opinion to hold?

And I liked the Found Poems - very funny take on foamy-mouthed blog comments. The bit I didn't like was when he insults his wife. Maybe she doesn't mind, I dunno.

- it doesn't take a huge leap of faith (for want of a better word) to think that that maybe the police had good reason to suspect that there was more to the group than just a "few comments" and having received a complaint felt compelled to investigate.

Or is it just ok for police to detain people and seize equipment because somebody wrote in to complain. Does this mean that if I write to the police to complain about Mike Riley they might investigate him for match fixing?

for comments on Facebook and Twitter which is why Outraged of Canary Wharf/Kensington have to so distort these isolated cases to whip up paranoia. I am fairly certain police act on these rare occasions with good cause, though of course they can make errors of judgement as well.

As for Mike Riley - can we not just have a whip round in the pub on Monday and hire a hitman *

***** - I'll get done for this now
