View Full Version : Good point someone made was that our triple substitution vs Everton denied us the chance to

introduce Monreal as extra defensive cover (as we usually do when winning), which may have prevented Everton’s goal, coming as it did from the left side.

There's no telling what would have happened if Monreal had come on. He might have scored three own goals and broken Ozil's leg.

The triple substitution having been made before the goal so who knows had it not been made if we would even have had a lead to defend etc.

You really do talk an immense amount of ****e at times.

It would be pretty dumb not to, given the two passes that led to the goal were both made by substitutes.

It is simply an observation - of irony more than anything else - that the one substitution that may have prevented the goal was denied to us by the very unusual occurance of Wenger making three attacking subs all in one go.

One that looked like paying off until an equally as astute substitution by Martinez. All in I thought they were excellent value for the draw.

Think Monreal can count himself quite unlucky not to play more, duration as opposed to frequency. Looks a very good footballer. Perhaps tonight.

I'm pretty sure he'd decided before the game to withdraw Ramsey, Wilshere and Cazorla with 20 mins to go.

He removed Ramsey for example as he was having a very poor game.

Some suggested in advance that he would sit out the match but it would have been an extraordinarily brave move to leave out the team's best player for such a match.

I suspect Wenger makes specific indiviudal decisions regarding players to remove as a game evolves as opposed to concrete decisions like those you suggest. Such set in stone ideas would be folly as we both know football is a very fluid game and all it would take is 1-2 injuries and his entire 'plan' would be in pieces.
