the guy had a fairly average game overall. Yes he scored after 2 minutes but the cross was near perfect and he was about 6 yards out. If he couldn't score that he might as well have been hauled off there and then. The rest of the game he was ok but nothing special with the occassional example of his haphazardness. He is not a top class player. We need more than him if we want to be serious contenders for top trophies. After all if Giroud got injured for 2 months would we feel ok because we have Bendtner. Of course not.

There is too much hype about what was a simple goal for a 6 foot plus striker.

Had Giroud scored the goal it would have been a good finish from what was a lovely move down the right hand side, perhaps even a top class or clinical finish which emphasised his development this season as a player.

Had he missed it would have been shrugged off as having come to him too early in the game. In Bendtners case you are suggesting he should have been withdrawn there and then.

Imagine the abuse Bendtner would have got had he stopped playing like Giroud did on Saturday.
