have barely heard of Thanksgiving and saying things like: ‘Oh, is that a real thing?’ or getting it mixed up with the 4th of July?

It’s tremendous fun. Many Americans really do struggle with the idea that the rest of the world is not only different, but also ignorant of and indifferent to their customs. The idea seems to offend them.

Always say Happy Thanskgiving on the 4th July.

I am sure the joke is not really that funny anymore.

after they've just suffered a humiliating defeat. Watching their miserable faces as they answer, "we lost 2-0 to Hull" is magnificent

into Miami and rented a car. When they were in a lift down to the car park, an American who was unknown to my parents welcomed them to his country (bit weird, but fine) and then insisted that he give them is 'cell' number in case they had an questions or needed tips etc.

Stop being so nice and creepy.

They are also so ingorant of every other culture but their own. Repulsive people.

Hence why I bloody well have to work for a few hours on that day. The upside is I will be doing so remotely from Spain this year...

they begin on the 24th and run right through until Reyes on the 6th January. So it all becomes a bit more spread out. I think we had fish on Christmas day last year but it is not as important for everyone to be together for that one day as it is here. I think in 'our' family, we peaked a few days after Christmas with about 24 members of the family there for lunch one day. On Christmas day, I think we had fish fwiw.

I always enjoy if a Spanish asks me if we celebrate Reyes day in England. Always takes me to a special place as I explain about Jose Antonio playing for Arsenal.

There are a very, very small minority of very well travelled, well educated and knowledgeable Americans out there. You would expect a couple out of 400M
